On many video pages the site asks me to download the latest version of firefox. When I go through the process and follow the steps, it says download is successful. But when I go back to the web pages it give the same message that I need to download the latest version. Also when I look for the latest version on my computer, it shows an earlier version.

Did you post with your current version of Firefox? Firefox 26 is the latest, so there's no need to update.

However, your plugin list doesn't show the Flash Player plugin, technically known as Shockwave Flash.

Could you check your Add-ons page to see whether it has been disabled? Older versions may be disabled after a while. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Check the bottom of the list, with the gray background. Can you find Shockwave Flash and set it to Always Activate?
