Hey guys,

Trying to push my parents further into the internet. Both of them are clinging HARD to AOL. I've set them up with thunderbird but neither of them use it. The complaints I get (after trying a few close mimic-themes of AOL) is that it's just too complicated.

I've done a few searches both through the add-on site, as well as just a general search hoping someone created one and for some odd reason didn't post it to the add-ons area, but found one with zero users that I can't seem to pull up.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you know of any themes that are as close to AOL as possible while using Thunderbird?

Thanks for the help!

I don't understand what you mean with 'as close to AOL as possible'.
The AOL website?
An AOL application?
In any case, Thunderbird isn't AOL. If your parents don't like it, I'd just let them use whatever works for them.

I'm fully aware of the fact that Thunderbird isn't AOL, i'm searching for a theme that incorporates icons to look more like AOL the Email software.

AOL has continued to be a resource hog and always has some issue that needs to be fixed (especially after an update) whether this is user generated issues or not, Thunderbird would be less intense all around. I don't have the numbers with me on hand, but running AOL (software) on their machines, and running just Thunderbird on their machines have a dramatic difference in how smoothly the operation goes.

They want to change, but they don't because the interface is confusing, I'm merely asking for a more AOL 'feel' or 'look' while, again, being more than aware that the two programs aren't one in the same.

I think, in truth, you will find so few AOL users (or refugees) here that no-one will have any clear idea of the look'n'feel of the AOL email interface that you're wanting to emulate.

I suspect that even if you manage some degree of visual coordination, the fundamental operational stuff will still feel very different to them.

Can they not do AOL email through a browser? No client software, and hopefully some commonality in the styling. (I have put older people onto Linux, and so long as there is a browser and they can do facebook and hotmail, they are pretty well oblivious to the actual OS in use. ;-) I haven't ever tried to get these folk to use email, in the traditional sense; they are by and large happy with the facilities in facebook and similar and see no need for email. Maybe your folks are more adventurous.)

It's been so long since I last used AOL in any way at all (I used to have an AIM account) that I can't even log in to see how it works these days.
