Can I get my bookmarks off an external hard drive that I use as a backup? I have Windows 7 Home Edition Premium.

I have been backing up my computer with Windows 7 Home Premium onto an external hard drive. I have been using manual backup when I hook up the external hard drive. I've tried looking for the Firefox folder but can't seem to find it. Was it saved with all the other files and folders and if so how do I access it?

Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:

  • C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
    • The file you want is called places.sqlite

You can copy that file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox by going back to C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder> and overwriting the current file. Keep in mind, doing this will erase your current bookmarks.

Thank you very much. I don't think I could have remembered all the websites I had saved. I forgot to mention that I had done a complete restore of my computer and then downloaded all my files and folders back onto the restored computer. Thanks again for your help.
