Does the Preview show that Firefox plans to print more than one page, or does Preview show that Firefox is losing all the content after the first page?

Lost content generally happens when pages use style rules that Firefox cannot paginate correctly, and sadly, there are many pages like that.

The first thing to check is whether the page you want to print has a "printable" layout. You may see a printer icon or other indication. For example, with email messages, there usually is a Print item on the menu for the message. This should display a popup or new tab with a simpler layout that usually works well in Firefox.

If that is not available, then there are some possible workarounds:

  • Try printing a selection. Sometimes selecting just the most relevant part of the page works around Firefox's layout problem. But it doesn't always work. To do this, select the text, then press the Ctrl+p keyboard shortcut to call up the print dialog, and click Selection in the Print Range section. Unfortunately, Print Preview does not work with selection printing, so there's no way to know in advance whether this will work.
  • Hack the page. Since each site is different, there is no specific set of steps on how best to do this. If the page is public and you can post the address, we could reply with suggestions.
  • Grab a screen shot of the whole page (large image file). This isn't so useful for printing, but if you want to preserve the exact appearance, there are a variety of extensions for this.
