I would like to automatically delete old emails but I want a way to save emails of interest by moving them to folders. The selections with regard to the delete options do not specify the range of the deletion across folders; it would be nice if the deletions were limited to the inbox. Are they?

The Disc Space setting in Account Settings refers to the whole mail account. It will delete messages both on computer and on server and in all folders.

If you select to 'don't delete any messages' in Account Settings, then you can set this up on specific folders.

Right click on folder and select 'Properties' Click on 'Retention Policy' tab Now you can override the account settings for that folder. eg: 'Delete messages more than 30 days old' If you want to be able to keep certain emails so that they do not get included in the auto delete, select always keep starred messages' then click on OK

note that emails will be deleted off computer and server (if a copy is left on server)

If you mark an email in that folder with a star, it will not be included in the auto delete.
