First of all, all settings are correct for sent messages to be in "sent" folder. I am not new or unfamiliar with Thunderbird having been using it for at least 10 years now. I have downloaded all of the latest updates.

Recently some sent messages are not going into the "sent" folder while others are. There is no pattern to it or certain email addresses involved, just randomly some sent messages are not showing up in the "sent" folder. Then if I send a test message to my yahoo email address it will be in there.

What is going on?

First see if the indexing needs to be fixed: Right click on 'Sent' folder and choose 'Properties' click on 'Repair Folder' button Click on OK

Refresh the Sent folder by selecting another folder and then reselecting.

How big is the 'Sent' folder ? Try this:

  • Delete any sent emails you do not want to keep.
  • Archive any sent emails over a two months old .
  • Right click on Sent folder and choose 'Compact'.
