How does one close all Thunderbird tabs?

I was moving an email to a folder and for some reason Thunderbird opened up all my emails and put them in tabs. I searched all the menu items and could find no way to close all the tabs at once. I also searched all the keyboard shortcuts and could not find anything to close all the tabs at once. It opened up hundreds of emails and put them into tabs simply by trying to effect a move. Thank you.
