I am trying to download Firefox to my laptop computer. It says it downloads and get almost done installing when I get an pop message stating Firefox is searching for Firefox.exe and it gives me the option to find it or cancel. when I look in the file it says firefox downloaded to the .exe is not there. If I click cancel it stops the install and does. I have tried this process several times to no avail. How do I fix this problem so firefox will successfully download??

Hmm, maybe your security software is objecting to something in the download.

If you have been downloading the installer with the word "stub" in the name, could you try downloading the "full" installer instead? On the following page, scroll down to your preferred language:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Can you get that one?

Thanks for the suggestion I tried the "full" version listed on that page and it did the exact same thing. :(

If you check here, does firefox.exe exist, or does the folder even exist:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

The folder exists but the firefox.exe is not there.

So strange.

Does your security software have a list of files it may have quarantined or deleted?

If you aren't sure about the strength of your security software, you can supplement it with some one-time scanners/cleaners. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. Note that those are free (maybe a trial version in there) and should take some time to run. If they finish quickly and require a payment to clean your system, you may have a more serious infection. In that case, the specialized forums listed in the article would be a good next step.
