Certain websites such as AOL for email purposes ask us to send them the SOURCE COPY of the email...with us no longer having that option, must we switch?

In order to block unwanted e-mails, my provider, AOL, has asked me to send them source text of the sender's e-mail. Without that option to see and capture the source code, that presents a problem. Are we to switch to IE?

Hi stanleighco,

Thank you for your question, in order to gather the original message in AOL mail using Firefox use the following steps:

  1. Sign in and visit mail
  2. Open the mail you want the original text from
  3. Click on the action icon and select: View Message Source

IF there is a mixed content issue that blocks this icon:

  1. Open up about:config in the url bar
  2. search for mixedcontent and make sure each are set to true

see: o temporarily allow the mixed content to be displayed:

  • Click the shield icon Mixed Content Shield in the address bar and choose Disable Protection on This Page from the dropdown menu.
    Fx23MixedContentBlocker

To allow insecure content to be displayed in all secure pages, enter about:config in the address bar and double-click on this preference, to toggle it from true to false:

security.mixed_content.block_active_content

You can also use this add-on instead, to toggle the preference:

You may want to do this only for the current session, then reset the preference back to "true" and check back with the site to see whether it's been fixed, since this is a global setting that exposes you on all sites, not just the one you care about.
