I had to replace hard drive and reinstall Thunderbird. I was able to find the abook.mab but don't know how to get it into TB so I can use it. Can someone give me step by step (for Dummies) on how to get this abook.mab from my windows.old into TB so I can use my address book?

You need to copy abook.mab from windows.old into your current Thunderbird profile folder. To locate the profile folder in the file system: At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help, and then Troubleshooting Information. Press the Open Folder button. This will open your profile in Windows Explorer. Copy your abook.mab file there when Thunderbird is closed. Start Thunderbird.
