I logged on to Thunderbird and could not see my local folders. They were not there visibly. However, if I tried to recreate one, it stated that the folder already exists. So they seem to be there, but are not visible.

Have you checked the directory structure? I'm not familiar with MS but if you're on Linux, you will find them under ~/.thunderbird/<something>.default/Mail/Local Folders/<email address>

If you see your hidden folders there, let's call them Inbox in this example, move Inbox to _Inbox and move Inbox.msf to _inbox.msf. Restart TB.

Do your renamed folders appear now? If so, in TB, right click and rename them to Input (or whatever name you used previously)

If not, can you give me some feedback?
