I keep forgetting that there are downloads in the background and interrupt them constantly because I am closing the browser. Is there either an option to close Firefox and automatically keep the downloads running in the background

OR

to be reminded that there are downloads running when trying to close Firefox?

Is there either an option to close Firefox and automatically keep the downloads running in the background OR to be reminded that there are downloads running when trying to close Firefox?

Chosen solution

You can create a new Integer pref with the name browser.download.manager.quitBehavior pref on the about:config page and set its value to 2. That will make Firefox ask for confirmation if you want to cancel the download when you close Firefox.
