Personally I click on an email in the list to select it, then: if I want to select a block of emails, press and hold shift while clicking elsewhere in the list; if I want to select individual emails, press and hold ctrl while clicking elsewhere in the list. These are standard Windows mouse controls, they've been in use for years: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/computer-mouse-tricks-windows Once you have selected the messages you want, press delete.
