After update to Ver 47.0.1 - Stuck in firstrun mode, i.e. opens 3 welcome splash tabs and changes home page every time its is run & will not save changes

All was well until after updating to V47.

As expected I got welcome splash tabs consistent with the update. I deleted the pages used the browser normally for a bit and exited the browser. Next time I ran Firefox I got the same first run splash tabs.

Upon further examination and attempts to correct, I have noticed that my home page is being changed to the welcome screen with each startup. I can closing the tabs and change my startup configuration successfully, but after exiting and restarting firefox, home page has been changed back and the 3 welcome tabs are back.

hi, what you've described would be a symptom of firefox not being able to safe preferences in its profile folder - please refer to this article for the most common solutions to this: How to fix preferences that won't save
