Thunderbird has started sending messages with HTML in the body text. How can this be fixed? For instance, the following is in my sent folder and people are receiving it that way:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

For example, I switched to having it send plain text only, sent myself a message, and it is like this:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

Go to Tools -> Account Settings -> [account] -> Composition & Addressing and uncheck Compose messages in HTML format.

I've done that now, but I discovered that IE and Firefox would not download files, they always failed. Then I found an unwanted program called ByteFence. I uninstalled it and the TB problem and the download problem went away. So I think that ByteFence was the problem.

Had this same problem .. Thanks to this post I found ByteFence Installed on my machine and removed it. Problem solved. ..... Thanks
