Unable to receive emails from comcast. Tbird says my inbox is full. Have deleted many but no result.
I stopped receiving emails two days ago with Thunderbird giving me an error message saying my inbox is full and I need to delete messages. I have done so but with only a few emails coming in until it stopped again. Instead of deleting some Ihave put messages into folders that are not a subfolder of the inbox in Thunderbird. I read about compacting email but have seen some confusion on the results from that. I am not sure what compacting does to the emails in a particular folder. Does it really lose some? I see that there is a 4 gig limit for the inbox folder(or is that total of all folders?) but I am not sure how to find out how much I am using. Need some help trying to sort this out. I use comcast email address so I am able to get my emails thru comcast direct rather than Thunderbird. However, I prefer to stick with thunderbird.

Read about compacting. You are asking for problems if you do not do it on a regular basis. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/compacting-folders

Thank you. You were right, compacting solved everything. Also, although I had worries about losing some emails through compacting, that never occurred. Your multiple articles helped me tremendously. I will be sure to compact routinely from now on.
