Was previously using Windows Mail. Had facility to select all messages in Inbox and delete them, sending them all into the deleted items folder.

Cannot see an option in Thunderbird so what method should be used to effectively select all messages and achieve same outcome without having to delete every message in turn?

Chosen solution

Now you have that, try holding ctrl and clicking on some entries in the list. It selects and deselects on clicking. A great way to pick a few, or unselect a couple when you select all.
