my inbox keeps emptying even though I am not clicking on anything and now I can't find those emails in any folder

Just installed Thunderbird on a new computer. I see emails in my inbox then they just disappear without any clicking going on. I can't find them even with a search. I have looked at all my settings and can't find anything out. I have checked do not delete emails.
