jsonlz4 file to html
I had to reinstall W7 on my HD. I saved all of the app data. The bookmark and open tabs list are large and I do not want to import them all to the new install. I want to convert the files to html so I can pick what I reinstall and save the html file for reference. I have searched and don't seem to find a way to convert the jsonlz4 files to html. Is there no converter or easy way to do this? Thanks.

HI, never used it but this is suppose to be for rescue of info so use a copy : https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger_json.html It is safe the site is owned by a Contributor here.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 28.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Reinstall with Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.113 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) I would say thank you about the Jefferson program as now I remember that from before. (lost my pc OS recently, and should have looked at my other posts to find that anyway). But when I try any of the tab files, previous or recovery they only convert to a 1KB apparently “empty” file. The tabs file is 448KB, I had a lot. I drag the file over click scrounge urls and it ends up with this. Same problem with the bookmark backups file. Am I doing something wrong? Does this only work with .json and not .jsonlz4? I feel it is there, just that something is not working right to convert. I will do the flash update also. Thanks.
Modified
- sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)
- bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
- bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
I have used this before and had success.
None of those work. They all just produce a basically empty html file. The places.sqlite file apparently can't be processed by this as it just seems to error my browser. Could they somehow be empty but show as having contents? I may have to get a backup pc going and see if I can get these installed on it see if they are valid and convert from there.
I was trying to find more info on the program and it just links to the page. I clicked help and it seems to work differently that way. I was able to pull up all of my tabs and save a file of them.
There are many saved bookmark backup files. They are all 59kb, once again I have quite a few. Trying the last 5 of them are doing the same, basically empty files. Do I need to choose the “Save Uncompressed JSON (sessionstore.js)” option and maybe that can be used somehow? Will this then convert the uncompressed file to html? (nope, tried that also and nothing)
Modified
From the help info tab I see no mention of bookmark files. Maybe it does not work for that. I may have to do like I said and install the file on another pc and then if they are there maybe I can do something with them. I was thinking of doing a startover of bookmarks, but then again I may actually want them all anyway and I can just delete or archive from there anyway to clean the pile if I want.
Forget about "converting" to HTML format, and use those files as they are; and see if that works. In HTML format you would need to "pick out" each URL one at a time for everything except bookmarks, which can be imported via the Library.
With Firefox closed, copy those files into the Profile folder to replace the same files that were created by Firefox during the first launch of Firefox.

Once those older files are in the Profile folder Firefox should be able to use them, as long as they aren't corrupted.

Ok, but I don't want to transfer all of my open tabs. I need to start over. I made a html file and it is easy to view that file and click on the few url's that I want to now be open. The conversion is exactly what I wanted.
Now the bookmarks is different. I want those all back and I can easily delete or modify those once they are on the pc. I used your help and replaced the two bookmark files and they came up fine. Just have to wait until it replaces the icons for those. Thanks for the help.

Great. I thought there must be a converter for those also. I ended up just sending all of the bookmarks to the pc which worked fine and I can modify them any way I want now. Thanks for the help.
