Import passwords
I hate that I have to ask this.... I have been trying to import my username/passwords from Chrome to Firefox for weeks. I'm using the Firefox built in Import tool. It just simply doesn't work. A couple of weeks ago it did actually import 1 site/username/password. Then today I was able to get 1 more. Both of these were sites that I used Chrome to sign into recently, like it cached them or something and thus were able to be imported into Firefox. But all the others that are saved in Chrome will not come over. I just don't get it. There is really nothing to it, so I know I'm doing it right. Options>>Privacy & Security>>Saved Logins>>Import>>>Select Chrome as browser to import from>>(Deselect cookies, browsing history, bookmarks) Saved Passwords selected>>Next>>Finished. Nothing.
Maybe I should uninstall Firefox and reinstall it and see I can do it from a fresh install. I don't know. Very frustrating.
Version 66.0.3 64 bit.
Thanks

LastPass is what I was trying to get away from. I had been using this add-on originally. I wanted to stop using it and just use the built in password manager. I'm just recreating it one at a time. It's fine, I'm omitting old ones I don't need as I go. Thanks for your help.

My own update... I did uninstall and reinstall Firefox. No luck with that. However while doing the reinstall and did the import of passwords from Chrome as part of the install process I noticed several more did come over and they were all sites I had signed into this morning. So I did a test and signed into several more sites using Chrome, exited Chrome, launched Firefox and ran the import again and sure enough, those sites came over.
So... the import tool is NOT importing all saved sites in Chrome, but it is importing recently used sites (site I logged into using Chrome). So there must be a difference in Chrome between saving a site and login credentials, and actually signing in to the sites. Actually signing in through Chrome obviously caches the credentials and that cache is where Firefox is importing from, not the "saved" sites in Chrome.
So now I have to sign into every single site I have saved, using Chrome, and then import them into Firefox right after I do it.
That blows.....

Thank you, I did not notice that option. However I tried it and it did not work either. There is a piece of this problem I forgot about when I posted. That is, I had been using LastPass for a long time. I exported my LastPass logins and imported them into Chrome. So I have not actually used many of the logins from within Chrome, only a few. So with that in mind, it would appear that when you import from Chrome, into Firefox, Firefox is only looking to a cache file of logins you have actually used in Chrome, and not necessarily the "Saved Logins". The logins only import to Firefox after they have been used once in Chrome. Interesting.
So I guess it is an opportunity to see which logins I really need and use and I rebuild the list in Firefox manually.
Thanks for responding though!
Add-on Password Managers typically have their own storage system for their saved user data, separate from the built-in functionality that Firefox provides.
