Have 3 computers using Tbird with gmail, and 2 of 3 suddenly don't recognize imap pswd. Other is fine, and gmail is fine otherwise. HELP?

The two misbehaving computers both ask for gmail password to access imap servers, but the correct password suddenly does not work. It DOES work for the third machine. This change happened suddenly and without warning. Been working well for years. Gmail access works fine outside of T-bird on these two machines. Don't see anything on either T-bird or Google account configurations that jumps out as problematic.

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.

In your Thunderbird Account Settings change the 'Authentication method' from 'passwordCleartext' to 'OAuth2' for your Gmail account. This goes for both, incoming server (IMAP) as well as for the outgoing server (SMTP).
