while downloading any rar file, in chrome it downloads that which may contain several ppt,pdf etc, but in firefox it downloads as firefox html document file...
when i download any zip file from my website of my college assignments or from any website from chrome, it downloads correctly and contain all the subfiles let it be any ppt, pdf,txt file, but when i download the same file using firefox it downloads that in the form of firefox html document...why this is so...this problem i face from a long time , please solve this problem as fast as possible...because of this bug firefox pc is not preferred by me sometimes otherwise it is too good.

Did you check this action in Options/Preferences -> General -> Applications ?
You can also check handlers.json in the profile folder and open this file in a Firefox tab. Be cautious with editing this file if you aren't familiar with data in JSON format.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can inspect the MIME database key with the registry editor (regedit.exe) and do a search for that MIME type (file extension) via Ctrl+F. Be cautious with editing the registry as there is NO UNDO possible: all changes are applied immediately. You can export key(s) in the registry editor before making changes.
You can check specific file extension keys (e.g. .rar) in the registry with the registry editor.
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xxx
You can check a possibly linked MIME type in the MIME Database registry key.

This doesn't hepled...the problem is different.. While opening any rar file. It opens or downloads as html document file, how can we know the rar file which we are downloading contains several other types of files pdf,ppt,txt ,then how can we change for tje type of file while downloading
Do you get a valid (working) RAR file if you change the file extension of the saved file to .rar ?
If that is the case then it is likely a problem with the Windows registry.
Yaa after downloading , i have to change the file type..to rar But in chrome browser it automatically identifies the file type as "winrar file archive".. Please improve the functionality , so that it automatically identifies because everytime changing file type is frustrating.
