I have 3 accounts in Thunderbird. The google PW was changed on one account and TB now gives "Authentication failure". I removed this account from TB and set it up as a new email. Now I get a message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I use IMAP like my other accounts. I've removed the oauth:// entries. In my google recovery email account, I get a message from Google that the "Sign-in attempt was blocked for your linked Google Account". If I can't get this problem resolved, I'll be forced to uninstall TB and go back to my Google gmail! Can someone give me a detailed analysis on how to fix this in Thunderbird?

Chosen solution

I would suggest you go back to google and look at the security log entries and see if they report why they blocked you sign in attempts. One common issue is the use of a VPN, they are being heavily sold on the internet, but many providers block access attempts that come from these "new" locations, like Moscow or London when you live in cape town.
