We have a common email for our business and when we receive an email, if I read it instantly, my business partner doesn't get a notification on his laptop. Or if he checks Thunderbird the email was already seen. Mark as unread doesn't help because we can mark it unread without knowing each other we did and thus the email remains unseen. Is there a way when we receive an email, if I read it from my laptop, to be seen on my side but on his laptop to show up as an unread email?

One way might be to create a filter that automatically copies all new messages in the Inbox to a (created) subfolder of Local Folders named, e.g. MyInbox. As long as each user reads (opens) new mail only in MyInbox, messages won't be marked as read in the Inbox, so each user will always be notified of the same number of new messages.

Sounds good, I'll give that a try! :) Thanks.
