In order to set Yahoo as your default search engine you must go to settings and then navigate to extensions and themes. Then you have to search for and add the Yahoo Search Addon to Firefox. After adding this extension you can go to your settings and search and choose Yahoo as your default search engine. Which will let you automatically search with Yahoo in search box on homepage.
