Please let me know how to remove this empty column when I work on a large monitor, it doesn't bother me, but when I use it on a laptop, it takes up a lot of valuable space and is generally pointless.

You can't. It is where the scroll bar is located.

It is known however that it is not perfectly implemented. It is planned for improvement some time next year.
