open bookmark in a new tab

If I select a page from my Bookmarks it overwrites/replaces the current tab. By pressing the Ctrl key the bookmarked site opens in a new tab. Is there a way to reverse this 'norm'?

That is, I'd like my click on an entry in Bookmarks to open the selected page in a new tab. Whereas if I press Ctrl when selecting a bookmark entry, it will overwrite the current tab.

Currently there is no way. If you want to open Bookmarks in new tab, right click the bookmark and select "Open in new tab" or select the bookmark, hold Ctrl key and open the bookmark.

You can also middle-click a bookmark to have it open in a new tab.

TabMix Plus has an option to have bookmarks open in a new Tab, but I don't think that includes having it open in the current tab when {Ctrl + Click} is used.
