I would like to import bookmarks from my old computer without loosing the bookmarks and tags I've created in my new computer. Both use firefox.

I have read that if I import the bookmarks into my new computers firefox it will mean the new bookmarks and tags will be all deleted as the old one is 'restored'. I don't want this, I want to combine the two together without loosing either.

You need to export the bookmarks on the old computer to an HTML file, then import the HTML file onto the new computer. When you import an HTML file it adds then bookmarks to those that already exist. For details of how to do this see:

An HTML "import" will append existing bookmarks on the receiving computer, but HTML files don't contain the "Tag" data.

JSON "backup" files do contain the "Tag" data, but a JSON file will overwrite existing bookmarks in the "receiving" computer.

The only way that I know of to "merge" both bookmarks and Tag data is to use Firefox Sync to merge all your bookmarks.

Thank you, I did now do this, import the bookmarks, but unfortunately not the tags as I am not sure how to sync my computers yet though that might be convenient. I am happy though to have my bookmarks and toolbar bookmarks as well.
