I recently installed Firefox 5.0 on my Ubuntu 10.10 system and I am having trouble customizing Firefox to work like my previous 3.6 system. Namely, I cannot seem to find a way to disable history. On Firefox 3.6 I could go to Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Custom settings for history and untick the "Remember my Browsing History" checkmark, and so I did that with my 5.0 install yet Firefox still behaves as if the checkmark was still checked and still remembers history.

Maybe that is a problem with the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications extension.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately the problem still persists even when running with add-ons fully disabled in safe mode.

Did you try safe mode to see if another extension is causing it?
