Removing Certificate
I am having problems (having to do with security) with a CA that is performing what I consider to be a security violation. The CA is GoDaddy. This started when I installed some security software on my computer. The security software alerts me that the certificate issued by GoDaddy is attempting to access the GoDaddy website whenever I attempt to access my bank online. Of course, I don't want this certificate as it is a security violation. The problem is that whenever I remove this certificate thru Tools|Options|Advanced|Encryption (Tab)|View Certificates (Button) |Authorities (Tab)|Delete or Distrust (Button) Certificate Name: GoDaddy.com, Inc.->Go Daddy Root Certificate Authority - G2 and certificate Name: The Go Daddy Group. Inc.->Go Daddy Class 2 CA where both actions invoke the confirmation pop-up where I push OK on both pop-ups and the certificates are removed (apparently). I proceed to re-start Mozilla and to my disappointment - they certificates are back in Mozilla! I don't know how to remove these certificates. Next tine I remove these certificates, I'm going to restart my system and see if that makes any difference. Do you have any suggestions? I do have Certificate Patrol add-on installed but so far I haven't been able to rid these certificates permanently.

You can't remove build-in root certificates if that is what you are doing.
You can only remove stored intermediate certificates that show as Software Security Device.
You need to edit build-in root certificates and remove the check-marks on all trust bits.
That will make it impossible to use them as root certificates.
This GoDaddy certificate is performing a security violation within Firefox. It seems to come with Firefox. Every time I access my bank online thru Mozilla Firefox, as a result of this GoDaddy certificate, is attempting a connection to the GoDaddy website. This is an obvious security violation. Now, how can I remove this certificate. I see no reason why I would need it. As a side issue, why would Mozilla require this certificate?

That is done in case of an intermediate certificate to check if the certificate hasn't been revoked.
Do I need to have this particular certificate (GoDaddy)? From what I have seen, this certificate is performing a security violation. When I attempt to do online banking with Mozilla, it tries to access the GoDaddy website. Now this is a security violation - and this certificate comes with Mozilla! Something is wrong here. Any help would be appreciated.

If that is a build-in root certificate and used for that connection then you do want to be sure that it is still valid.
You can click the favicon ("Site Identification" icon) at the left site of the location bar and click: "More Information" > "View Certificate" (Details tab) to see the certificate chain.
I am uncertain as to what it is. All I know is that I can't get rid of it - it seems to come back everytime I remove it and cycle Mozilla. I tried to uninstall Mozilla and remove all traces of it from the registry and filesystem and it comes back. Seems to be part of Mozilla. I don't understand why and is it needed? I certainly don't want it. Like I said, it is causing a security violation when I access my online bank. Why would it need to communicate with the GoDaddy website when I access my bank online? Raises my suspicious eyebrows.
Please advice.
