When viewing a news entry on MSNBC.com and reading the text part of the page, advertisement popups appear right on top of the text I'm trying to read, making the text unreadable. How can I prevent these popups from blocking the reading of the content I'm trying to read, or at least move them out of the way so I can read all of the text

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
