When I download an excel file, it is being downloaded as an ashx file and I can not read this. I'm having to log out of Firefox and into Explorer in order to download.

When I am downloading some files, such as excel, they are being downloaded as ashx files and I can't read them. I am having to log out of Firefox and into Explorer to download files that I can read. It is really beginning to be a pain. I can't use Explorer all the time because it doesn't support our email application as well and it crashes often. I am using Windows XP. I just started having this problem a few days ago. Previously, these same types of files have been opened with no problem in Firefox.
