when firefox starts up, in the lower left corner of the webpage, it stats waiting on lying.com,,,,,, then loading lying.com.

I deleted the version of firefox I was using rebooted and then downloaded firefox again, only to find the same situation.

Why is lying.com loading when firefox starts up? FYI Firefox does load the specified homepage - yahoo.com. but there is no sign of lying.com

Please advise.

Peter

Could it be l.yimg.com? That's a Yahoo domain. I haven't studied in detail what it's used for, but I suspect it's used for media. If you right-click your Yahoo page, choose View Page Info, then click the Media tab, you can check whether any images in the page are from that domain.

Of course, if the domain really is lying.com then that sounds completely unrelated.

What is your home page setting?

You can also try to delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
