This started today(10/22/12 about 1:00pm est.) I was using the Add-this app and now the captcha box is missing from the send page of Add-this. This happened with-in a 5 min. period. I changed nothing.

Chosen solution

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

  • Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
  • Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
  • Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
  • Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).

If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.image pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

Thanks ! The problem seems to have fixed itself without me doing anything. It must have been a temporary problem with the Add-this app.

eta. Oops!!! I didn't mean to choose my reply to Corel as the solution, I meant to choose Corel's reply. I don't see any way to change that. Sorry Corel. You have helped me many times in the past and I appreciate it. Help like this is one of the many reasons I prefer Firefox over IE. (which I won't use at all!!)

I have a similar problem, but it seems to be spreading -- I'm no longer showing images in the captcha box on any site -- not only on blogs using Blogger, but now a government site and -- ahem -- Mozilla. It started out with one or two sites, but now I don't get them on any site -- just an empty box. I've tried everything you recommended above, and nothing works. Is there a fix?

Well, here's what works for me. When the captcha box is missing I click on send anyhow. It then says I need to correct an error but at that time it always has the captcha box with the letters in it. Then I type the letters and click send again and it works. So far that works every-time for me. good luck!

Thanks -- tried it a couple of times on a couple of sites, but it's not working for me. Anyone have any other ideas?
