Hi

My Macbook Pro just died. No chance of recovery. I have the last backup on my external hard drive. I would like to find/import all of my Firefox bookmarks from the backup. I have looked around the web but cannot find any solution. I am sure there must be a solution. Help appreciated.

See:

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the $HOME/Library folder is a hidden folder.

Open Finder and use one of these:

  • Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library
  • Open the "Go" menu and hold down the Option key to make the Library appear

Thanks I have looked at the links but I am unsure how the hidden library folder helps me as that is on my current machine. What I want is the bookmarks off of the external hard drive and I still cannot see from the links how to find them.

If you want to copy files to the current Firefox profile folder then you need to be able to open that folder.

Did you find the profile folder on the old drive?

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/

Hi Yes I found what I think is the profile on the old drive. In the Profiles folder there is a long name with .default after. I am guessing that is the profile that I need to somehow copy to the new machine.
