Lately whenever i open firefox after having been in waterfox (and vice versa), it searches for updates then displays:

http://www.mozilla.org/nb-NO/firefox/22.0/whatsnew/?oldversion=18.0.1

22.0 is firefox, 18.0.1 is waterfox.

Also, for some reason, if i have either one running, it will not permit the other to run (and vice versa), only opening a new window of the already open browser!

So, attemting to open firefox while waterfox is running, now only opens a new waterfox window (and vice versa)

This started after firefox updated to V.22.0

You need to have a unique Profile for each version you have installed.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

more options

Create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch Firefox with each profile. Then you can set in the profile manager which profile to use by default if you click a link in an external program.

Use the -no-remote command line switch to open another Firefox instance with its own profile and to run different Firefox instances simultaneously, but do not use -no-remote with the default browser and the default profile.

Thank you all for the replies.

After creating a new profile (FF), and linking it in the shortcut like below "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "FF" -no-remote

i now get;

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

Regardless of it beeing waterfox or firefox i'm trying to open seperately.

I think it might be some other shared file\info\resource that got mixed in Firefox 22 upgrade-install, because it worked perfectly before, without needing to set up separate profiles.

You get this error if there is already a Firefox instance running that uses this profile.
You also can't send a link to a Firefox instance that was opened with the -no-remote command line switch.

Make sure that each Firefox version has its own profile and do not use the -no-remote switch for the default profile.
Make sure that this default profile is selected in the Profile Manager and marked as "Default=1" in the profiles.ini file.

Why when i open my firefox it becomes waterfox even i already uninstalled the waterfox

Waterfox can only open when the program is still installed.
So it looks that something went wrong if you uninstalled Waterfox.

Did you check the Waterfox installation folder?

Do I have to have Waterfox AND Firebox???? I am using Waterfox to get to Facebook. I wanted to use the "themes" they provide but I can only see a very small portion of the artwork and someone here said I needed to go to Toolbar Layout and then go to Customize but I can't figure out HOW to do that.....I get thrown to Mozilla or Firefox and not sure if they are ALL inter-related or WHAT? My hair is falling out I'm getting SO stressed out over this. For MOST things, I use Internet Explorer but someone told me Facebook would work better in Waterfox than Internet Explorer. Is Firefox a totally different "creature" than Waterfox or are they inter-related which, to me, makes it even more complicated. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Thanks to ANYONE who can steer me clear..........

Mozilla.org makes Firefox while WaterFox is a third-party built rebranded Firefox.
