We are having trouble with firefox opening up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and still have nothing. I need firefox for school otherwise I will not be able to access any of my assignments from my instructors. Is there another way we can get this problem fixed? I have tried everything and am still having problems. Thanks!

Several things you can try.

Open your firewall program. First check the settings. Make sure that the program is set to tell you if a new program wants access to the web. Then go to the list of programs the firewall has. Make sure that all the programs you want to access the web are set to ALLOW. If it is set to AUTO, the firewall may not allow access.

Hold down the Shift key (On Mac the Options key) while starting Firefox to start in Safe Mode.

Let us know how you do. BTW, we are all users like you, helping out where we can. One day, you may be the one answering questions.

Thank you so much! My husband was able to fix firefox on his computer. I tried but failed. He told me that all he did was open up a new browser and it corrected the problem he was having. I will save this for future reference.

Hi jqa2003

Your problem is different than the problem this question is about.

Could you please start a new thread for your question instead of posting in an existing thread?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • Firefox menu button > Options
  • View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the hidden Menu bar)
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup
