I have a new Windows laptop runs on Windows 8.1. Before Firefox 29, I was using Firefox 28 (obviously) and I started seeing sluggishness with Firefox. I waited for the update and even now the problem exists. More than sluggishness, the entire system got stuck and I have to hard reboot it all the time.

I tried the following

- One click reset
- Reinstalled Firefox
- Disabled all addon

Now I have uninstalled Firefox need help to resolve this. I am using Firefox on Mac OS X but that doesn't have any problem at all.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Thank you. I am wondering what happens to profile when I choose to completely remove Firefox from my system.

I have removed all preferences and files on uninstalling Firefox. Now reinstalling now, will try out to create a new profile if the default one fails.

But I strongly believe that a profile related issue should not freeze my entire system and cause a hard reboot! I am suspecting if something wrong with Antivirus Software + Firefox. However, I shall keep you posted with my results.
