I'm trying to add my work email to Thunderbird, but every time I try to connect the email account to Thunderbird it says "cannot configure, are you sure you're using the right username/password." I know I am because I use the same information to log onto my account through the internet.

You might be using the correct password, but not for the server settings you have selected in thunderbird.

Is this an IMAP or POP mail account?

In webmail account accessed via a browser, have you selected either Pop or IMAP forwarding? Which one?

What server settings are you using?

  • Incoming server name: ?
  • port:  ?
  • Connection Security: is this 'none' or 'SSL/TLS' or 'STARTTLS' ?
  • Authentication Method: the webmail Password
  • Outgoing SMTP server name: ?
  • port:  ?

re:

I'm trying to ad my work email account o to Thunderbird but whenever I try to connect I get the error message "Configuration unable to verify, are you sure you're using the correct username/pasword." I know that I am using the the correct password and the correct email because I'm able to log onto the account through the internet.

Email address- mattd@mjcclassicars.com (I receive emails to that account through gmail)

Incoming- s82172.gridserver.com SSL IMAP

Outgoing- s82172.gridserver.com SSL SMTP

You are not using the correct server name. see info here:

As noted above, you can use xxxx-xxxx.accessdomain.com in your email program (for both the incoming server and outgoing server).

Do NOT use s00000.gridserver.com for this purpose.

See Using Email for details on setting up email software.
