Hi, Yesterday I tried to clear the cookies, cache, and all browsing history for firefox on my macbook. Right afterwards, firefox began to freeze and I Force Quit. Afterwards, I tried to bring up Firefox and it froze every time right at startup. I even upgraded to Firefox 29 and the same result happened. Now a men comes up to either go to safe browsing mode o to reset. When I reset, Firefox appears in the menu but nothing happens. It kernels and freezes. Safe Browsing brings up the browsing window but it promptly freezes. CPU usage is maxed out when firefox is running. My .plst is missing. I deleted Firefox 24 (copied onto an external hard drive before deleting) but there was no change. I would appreciate any help.

How did you clear cache and cookies?

Did you do this in Firefox via build-in means like Clear Recent History or did you manually delete files in the Firefox profile folder?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
