Pocket occasionally partners with select publishers and brands to deliver sponsored stories to Firefox users in the Recommended by PocketThought-provoking stories section of the New Tab page. These stories will always be clearly notated as “sponsored content” and you can control whether or not they’re shown in your new tabs.

Remove sponsored stories from the New Tab page
If you want to remove a specific sponsored story from your New Tab page, you can click the 3-dot button that appears in the upper right corner of each Pocket recommendation and select
from the menu.You can also permanently opt out of viewing sponsored stories by doing the following:
- Click the cogwheel icon in the upper right of the New Tab page.
- Deselect the Sponsored Stories checkbox under .

What data is collected or shared?
Sponsors: We share aggregated data with our third-party ad platform, Adzerk, related to the sponsored content you see and click so that advertisers can see how many people have clicked on their articles. Sponsors don't receive any additional data from Pocket or Mozilla, except for an aggregated total count of impressions and clicks that a particular item receives. Lastly, we don't collect or share personally identifying data through these interactions with sponsors.
Firefox & Pocket: By default, when recommendations from Pocket are displayed in your tab, we collect information about how many times they appear and how many times they're clicked. However, this information isn't associated with any of the technical and interaction information about you or your copy of Firefox.
How do I opt out or delete this technical and interaction data?
Sponsors: When you opt out of viewing sponsored stories, we also treat this as a request to delete your technical and interaction data that is shared with Adzerk and relevant sponsors. To opt out of viewing sponsored stories:
- Click the cogwheel icon in the upper right of the New Tab page.
- Deselect the Sponsored Stories checkbox under .
Firefox & Pocket: Pocket and Firefox collect technical and usage data by default, but you can turn this off at any time by doing the following:
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and then select or , depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button and select .
- Click in the left panel.
- Scroll down to the Firefox Data Collection and Use section.
- Deselect the Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla checkbox.
