How do I retrieve most recent emails first?
I'm running Thunderbird 24.5.0 in Windows 7. When I start Thunderbird or when I select "Get Mail" it insists on retrieving the oldest emails first. I wouldn't be too concerned about this if it would just get ALL of my mail. It only pulls a little bit at a time in short bursts and I have to continually select "Get Mail" to coax a little more and it's still retrieving emails from 2009. This is very tedious. There has to be a better way. How can I get Thunderbird to just retrieve it all with one click or at the very least, retrieve the most recent first? I'm not usually very interested in email from five years ago.
I find it noteworthy that I have Thunderbird installed on my Ubuntu partition where I don't have this issue. On that platform, Thunderbird retrieved all of my mail almost instantly the first time I launched it and I'm able to view my newer email without this hassle.

Windows safe mode is usually enough, without any other settings changes.
Your trying to get all your old mail as there is no option to get newest first. It is just not in the RFCसंदर्भ में यह जवाब पढ़ें 👍 1

bet you do not have email virus scanning on your Linux partition either. That is the usual cause of what you describe.
The anti virus client gets a handful of mail and mucks around with them until the connection to the server times out, and does not both to tell you it caused the timeout, or that it even occurred.
Okay that makes sense. I'll see what I can do to get around that. Thanks

Would it be wise to turn off email virus scanning long enough to retrieve everything? I use McAfee which doesn't make it easy to find the option to turn it off.
How do I retrieve compacted emails? I am losing important information from inbox before actioning. This causes content and attachment to be deleted/removed
