13,000 cache entries in just a few days. Is this normal? Or is it a redirect virus?
I have the latest FF browser, just deleted my old one thinking there was a redirect virus, and re-downloaded. Even with the new browser, I get a ton of cache entries. I cleared out my cache, and within going to just 4 or 5 web sites, I'll have 1,100+ cache entries.
If I hover my mouse ABOVE the start button (not over it) while going to a web site, I'll see a whole bunch of names pop up (which I guess are redirects), including doubleclick and a bunch of others.
The other reason why I think I had a redirect virus, was because I was getting a lot of script errors on a few web sites, especially my local newspaper, then I couldn't get on that site anymore at all. After running virus scans and deleting search history and cache, I could get to the site again, but started getting script errors again. My computer repair person said that's the beginning of a redirect virus.
Either way, how can I stop all these crazy cache numbers? In just a few hours (not like I go to new web sites every minute), which might total going to 8 to 10 web normal web sites that I go to often (Craigslist, Ebay, my local newspaper, and maybe 2 sites from google searches), I now have 2,800+ cache entries.

If you take a look at the page about:cache. Put that in your url bar. you will see the details of all the cache entries. Are there any strange websites?
If so, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
I found out the best thing to do, is to set FF under Tools, to delete cache each time FF closes down. In just the last 3 days, I had 9,600 cache entries! Now they'll be deleted each time I close down.
