Currently, I am using the latest version of firefox, I have installed a new Add-on to ff - Ant Video Downloader 2.4.7.26. From that moment, there's a button showing just before the "Menu" button, when I hover over that button it shows "Click Here to see the traffic details of this page.", when I click on that, it opens a new tab and will load "www.ant.com". I do not want this button there, I want to move it to the menu, I have tried using the customize, it works for the time being, but, when I start ff later, it's on the same position. What should I do to move this button?

You can right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode to (re)move items.

  • Select "Remove from Toolbar" to remove the button from the Navigation Toolbar and move it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize).
  • Select "Move to Menu" to move a button to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
  • Select "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list to move the button to the toolbar.

You can check the Options/Preferences of the extension that adds the button to see if you can hide/remove the toolbar button.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

I have tried using the customization tab, it works for the current session, when I restart ff, the button is back to the same position.

See if this still applies in AVD. http://www.ant.com/video-downloader/faq/#part-7 Different "modes" for the display of "buttons".

Also, there's a support page here: http://support.ant.com/home

Beyond that, what happens when you 'hide' both the toolbar buttons into the Customize palette at the same time? Do both reappear the next time Firefox is launched?

My guess is that the 'display state' of one of those buttons is tied to the other; when one is displayed the other is "programmed" to be on the toolbar, too.

I want to hide the "traffic details button" only and when I move it to the customize palette, it reappears next time, but for the current session, it works.
