Is this only happening with one particular file or with jpeg files in generally?

Do you know the dimensions of that image if it in only one?

You can try to download this image and save it and open it in a different application to check its properties.

It hapens with all jpg files. It began after the last Firefox update to 37.0.1. I can save the jpg and read it from that place but cannot read it in my emails or web pages.

I am having a similar problem under FF 39.0.3 (recently upgraded) on both win vista and win 7. The particular set of files always worked before but today, I get random failure to display and the images that do display are inconsistent on which will or won't. before upgrading from 39.0, more images failed to display which did display properly after upgrading.

There are 4 images that consistently fail to display on both machines so those 4 I will re-upload and see if that fixes those 4.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that has effect.

I did not do this but I did run tests this morning. First I took the online pictures and made an offline set for testing. Here are the results:

Computer 1: win xp (yes I know it is unsupported now) firefox 39.0.3 IE 8 ff: both online and offline - most of the first 29 thumbnails did not display after loading BUT I could click on any of them and display a large photo. Clicking the BACK button, the thumbnail stayed on display. ie: all thumbnails loaded and displayed properly

Computer 2: win vista firefox 39.0.3 IE 9 ff: most of the first 29 thumbnails did not display after loading and when clicking on any missing thumbnail I got an error message saying could not display because it contained errors. ie: all thumbnails loaded and displayed as expected. got identical results from the offline and online sets.

Computer 3: win 7 Ultimate firefox 39.0.3 ie 11 I got identical results as per computer 2 noted above.

Curious note: my sister has win 7 home premium and firefox 39.0.3 and ff on that machine does display the jpg's I am having trouble with on computers 2 and 3.

Initial conclusion: firefox 39.0.3 does not consistently handle jpg file displays across the 3 platforms I use while ie does and across 3 different versions of ie as well.

08-13-2015: after updating firefox to ver 40.0, the jpg display issue seems to have gone away.
