I have uninstalled, reinstalled, run in safe mode, deleted ALL ADD ONS, refreshed firefox, etc. IT continues to happen no matter what.

It DOES work when I run in safe mode, but I disabled ALL add ons, and then just decided to delete them all together and the issues still happens when I exit out of safe mode. Please help, this is the only problem I have but it very annoying and I'm about to give up and install google chrome instead. I have also followed the instructions for the about:config where you toggle the javascript enabled preference to true.. It is always on true already when I go to change it.. So there is no need to change it to false as that wouldn't fix the problem.

Are you using the default theme or a custom theme?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

I just did the last thing you recommended.. Here is another weird issue, I did delete all add ons/extensions and that did it, however, sometimes when I start firefox ALL of the add ons that I just deleted, add themselves right back and then it starts not working again. Any suggestions to perm. delete them ?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
