Sort Inbox by subject or sender

Over the week(s) I get many emails from several sources, with different subject lines, say 10 from one sender, 12 from another etc. I would like to be able to sort my inbox, say by sender, and then move them in bulk to the appropriate folder. I have only just switched to Thunderbird from Windows Live Mail.
