I tried to set up a Support Forum account but was surprised to find a strange username already associated with my e-mail address. (I clicked that I had "forgotten" my username and got an e-mail that gave a username I never would have created.) I wanted to delete that account associated with that e-mail address, but couldn’t do it because I couldn't get into the account. So I had to create this new account using a different e-mail address, just so I could post this question.

To sign in to an account, you need a password, but I never set up the account in the first place, so I don’t know the password. AND, there is no place you can click to indicate you “forgot” the password!!!! You can reset it, but to do that you need to know the old password!!!! (There is a place to click if you "forgot" your username, so that's how I found out the username associated with my account.) So, how can I delete the other account that was set up using my e-mail address, but that I can’t get into because I don’t know the password?????

I figured out how to do it myself, by trial and error. Turns out I had to pretend to know what the old password was and just put in any set of letters & numbers. It doesn't work, of course, but then you can pick "password didn't work" and you get an e-mail to set up a reset that way. So I got into the old account and deleted it.
