since the new firefox has been updated, everytime the page contains any video or mp4 content, the firefox crashes. For example, youtube, facebook, linkedin and many more...Even youtube trying to open does not contain any sound. Not sure how to fix the problem as the problem has become worse. Even the page loading time has increased a lot. Also multiple tab when opened, everytime I toggle between each tab, the page reloads automatically Need help to resolve this irritating issue.

Sorry to hear about the crashes. If you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox crashes - asking for support" for steps to get those crash report IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the recent ones here.

If it's more a matter of Firefox freezing and becoming nonresponsive, unfortunately Firefox doesn't gather data in that situation. This is the general support article for that problem: Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix.

Also and/or meanwhile, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox that might make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any less crashy?

You can try the 32-bit Firefox version to see if that still crashes.

You can try the 32-bit Firefox version to see if that still crashes.

I am using Windows 7 (64 bit)..should i try downloading 32 bit? I am thinking of downgrading the firefox version...may be the old version which was working fine earlier...if I go back to that might help..not sure what say?

Not advised to do the latest version upgrade will download based on you O/S bit version. Did you uninstall all older FF and then download the FF bit version based on x64 version that will the version you need.

Here's the download links get the bit version matching your O/S bit version.
