Thunderbird adding extra spaces to links after sending
Hello,
When I drag hyperlinks from a website into my Thunderbird draft, the links are perfectly fine. Double clicking on them shows the link is correct. After sending the message, going to click on the hyperlink in the sent e-mail, in the preview little thing in the bottom left corner where it shows where the hyperlink will take you, it has added like 5-10 spaces inside of link which renders it useless and takes me to an error 404 page. The links work perfectly on the website where I dragged them from and in the draft but once I hit send, those links basically become corrupted and no longer work.
Please advise, thank you.

I figured this out. The company I work for had some naming conventions for links to PDFs on their website that, when put into Thunderbird and sent, corrupted the URL and added a bunch of spaces because the PDF name had spaces in it. The ones that didnt have any spaces in them had no issues at all so we updated our naming conventions so none use spaces at all and just use dashes

I just dragged the link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1329856 to a thunderbird compose window.
I saved the message to draft, I closed the window and reopened the message from my drafts folder. Then I clicked the link in the message and typed this response in the window that opened.
Therefore I do not think there is a problem with the Thunderbird code that "linkifies" the link you dragged to Thunderbird. I would guess you have an anti virus product scanning your mail and that is the root cause of the issue. But that is just a guess looking at the most common item between functional software and your sent mail.

It would be good if you could provide a more technical answer as to what exactly the convention was and the result as while you have worked around the issue, it should not occur at all and bug report should really be filed, even if it is a low priority to fix it should be noted.
You can file a bug here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Post the details to reproduce here, or email then to me offline if you do not want to file the bug. My preference is obviously you report the bug as you could answer any questions a developer raised, but I am happy to file it if needs be with the additional information.
Good idea Matt! I have created a bug report. The ID is 1701801
